Mormon church in Mukilteo to hold opening ceremony

MUKILTEO -- A grand opening for the new Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints building in Mukilteo is set for Saturday.

The church was rebuilt after the former building was destroyed in an arson in October 2010.

A ribbon-cutting and dedication ceremony are planned for 10 a.m., church officials said.

The ceremony is planned "in part to thank the Mukilteo community for their support," said Kirsten Mullins, a regional church spokeswoman. There also will be music, refreshments and displays.

Mayor Joe Marine is expected to speak, along with church leaders.

The open house is expected to continue until 5 p.m. The church is located at 11001 Harbour Pointe Blvd.
