He's dead, Jim: Priceline, the travel booking website, is killing off its Negotiator character in a fiery bus plunge in a new commercial. For the last 14, years, the Negotiator was played by William Shatner, whose James T. Kirk character from "Star Trek" also met a dramatic end.
Shatner, who likely won't film new commercials but remains under contract, said, "Must. Keep. Cashing. Checks. Don't. Make. Me. Go. To. Back. To. Trekkie. Conventions."

Batteries not included: The leader of a breakaway sect of Amish, charged with assault against other Amish people, said he would agree to install electric service to his home in order to be released on electronic monitoring. The man's lawyer explained that the Amish don't shun electricity, just electric appliances.
Just like lawyers don't shun logic; just the application of it.

Not making this up: The race for the Republican presidential nomination took dramatic turns with Mitt Romney being stripped of his Iowa caucus victory, Rick Perry dropping out and Newt Gingrich's second wife claiming Gingrich asked her for an open marriage before divorcing her.
