Marysville: Civics class rescheduled
A free one-night civics class meant to provide residents with an insider's look at the Marysville's court system and how it functions as the judiciary branch for local government has been rescheduled.
The class, originally planned for Wednesday at the Marysville Municipal Court, was cancelled because of snow and is now planned from 6:30 to 9 p.m. on Feb. 15. Interested attendees need to reserve a seat by Feb. 13.
The "Law & Order: An Inside Look at Marysville's Criminal Justice System" class is set to include Municipal Court judges Fred Gillings and Lorrie Towers, court administrator Suzi Elsner and prosecuting attorney Jennifer Millett. The night is set to end with an optional tour of the courthouse.

Bowling for beginners
People ages 6 to 17 who want to learn how to bowl can sign up for a class to learn how through the Marysville Parks and Recreation Office.
A four-week session is scheduled from 4 to 5 p.m. on Mondays beginning Jan. 30 through Feb. 27 at Strawberry Lanes, 1067 Columbia Ave.
The cost of the session is $35 and there is no class planned on Feb. 20. Registration is required.

Stanwood: Ceremony postponed
The tree planting ceremony organized by Housing Hope to honor the life of former employee Toni Wiegand has been postponed.
The ceremony, originally set for Saturday, has been moved to 9 a.m. Jan. 28 at the Copper Station housing development in Stanwood.

Lake Stevens: Toxic algae warning lifted
Toxic algae blooms that were detected in Lake Stevens in December were not found in follow up water sample testing performed Jan. 4 and 10.
Signs posted near the lake to warn residents about the potentially harmful affects of the algae have been removed.

Snohomish: Help mediate disputes
A fair and unbiased person is wanted for the position of parking and dangerous dog hearing examiner for the city of Snohomish.
This person will provide independent and informal hearings for people who dispute city decisions regarding parking tickets and dangerous dogs. The examiner must prepare written decisions for these hearings.
Applications may be collected from City Hall or downloaded on the city website, www.ci.snohomish.wa.us, and turned in by 4 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 3.
