Front Porch: Arlington parade cancelled

Parade canceled

A Disney-themed parade of lights planned for Saturday in Arlington as part of the kickoff of the Relay For Life events has been canceled due to the weather.

It will be rescheduled for an undetermined date in the spring.

A kickoff also planned for Saturday has been rescheduled for 7 p.m. Feb. 7 at Stillaguamish Senior Center, 18308 Smokey Point Blvd., Arlington. The Arlington relay is scheduled for June 23 at Arlington High School.

For more information, call Jennifer Holocker at 425-322-1113 or www.relayforlife.org/arlingtonwa.

Bowling lane rally Saturday: Supporters of Robin Hood Lanes in Edmonds have planned a rally Saturday to oppose the demolition of the bowling alley for redevelopment.

The event is planned for 11 a.m. outside the business at 9801 Edmonds Way, Edmonds, 98020.

A San Francisco developer wants to raze Edmonds' last bowling alley to make way for a new Walgreens pharmacy and another commercial building. The bowling alley's owner doesn't want that to happen, but the decision rests with the family that owns the land. It could take up to six months for the city to review plans for the project.

Other area bowling alleys that have met the wrecking ball in recent years are Leilani Lanes in North Seattle, in 2005; and Sunset Bowl in Ballard, in 2008.

Breakfast canceled: The Norwegian Pancake Breakfast orginally scheduled for Saturday was canceled because of snow. The event has been rescheduled for 7:30 a.m. Feb. 18, at the Ebenezer Lutheran Church, 2111 117th Ave. NE in Lake Stevens. Cost is $5 per person. Children younger than 4 years old eat free. For more information, call 425-334-0421.
