Learn how Seattle played host to world

Edmonds writer Alan Stein, who co-wrote "The Future Remembered: The 1962 Seattle World's Fair and Its Legacy," is shown at Brackett's Landing in Edmonds. Fifty years ago, the entire world focused on the 1962 Seattle World's Fair.
The towering Space Needle, built for the fair, reached towards the heavens.
Dignitaries and celebrities descended on the Seattle Center, taking rides on the first-ever monorail.
The entire era and all the people who made it possible are vividly portrayed in a new coffee-table book, "The Future Remembered: The 1962 Seattle World's Fair and Its Legacy."
The book's authors, Paula Becker and Alan J. Stein, are scheduled to talk about the fair at the Everett Public Library.
Slides are included in the presentation and people are encouraged to share their fair memories. It's all part of the 50th anniversary of the Seattle World's Fair.
The presentation is free and scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday at the Everett Public Library, 2702 Hoyt Ave.
