Goat Rodeo Sessions to be simulcast Tuesday in Lynnwood
One of the most interesting musical concepts introduced last year was the "Goat Rodeo Sessions."
This joint project features cellist Yo-Yo Ma, mandolin prodigy Chris Thile, fiddler Edgar Meyer and bassist and MacArthur-award winner Stuart Duncan. Vocalist Aoife O'Donovan sings on one of the tracks and her gorgeous voice harmonizes nicely with Thile.
Together, these masterminds of American music produced a fresh, lively and amazing album that evokes the best of bluegrass, Americana, folk and acoustic instrumental jamming.
They came up with the name "goat rodeo," a term that's used to "describe a situation in which a thousand things must go right in order for something to work," they say.
Watching them play is a rare treat, and something you can enjoy at a local movie theater.
Fathom Entertainment will broadcast a live concert from Boston's House of Blues at 8 p.m. Jan. 31 at area movie theaters.
The show, which will be screened on tape delay on the West Coast, will show at the Alderwood 7 Theatres, 3501 184th St. SW, Lynnwood.
Tickets are $15.
