Mets sign ex-Mariner Tuiasosopo

NEW YORK -- Former Seattle Mariner infielder Matt Tuiasosopo, whose father and brother played in the NFL, has agreed to a minor-league contract with the New York Mets.

The 25-year-old hit .226 with 14 homers and 77 RBI in 439 at-bats last season with Seattle's Triple-A Tacoma farm team. He has a .176 average with five homers and 15 RBI with the Mariners from 2008-10.

His father, Manu, played for the NFL's Seattle Seahawks. His brother, Marques, played with the Oakland Raiders and New York Jets.

The Mets announced the deal Friday.
