What a long strange trip it’s been: Barring a prison break, we should be reading less about Colton Harris-Moore, the Camano Island Barefoot Bandit whose cross-continent string of burglaries and plane thefts captured the attention of international media. Harris-Moore was sentenced in federal court to 6 1/2 years in prison, to run concurrently with a state sentence.
We’d like to take this opportunity to thank Colton for providing The Buzz with something to write about on so many occasions. Fortunately, we have a presidential campaign to fall back on, or things would have gotten a little lean.

Speaking of Newt Gingrich: The former House speaker’s own party insiders appear to be turning on him, fearful that he might gain momentum in his GOP nomination challenge of former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, R-Heir of Inevitability.
We’re pulling for Newt, personally. Without him, we face a long uncomfortable spring of Santorum jokes.

The cat came back: A 10-year-old cat who survived cancer is resting after six hours of surgery to implant a custom-designed artificial knee made of plastic and a cobalt chromium alloy.
The cat faces a few weeks of physical therapy, mostly time on a treadmill placed behind a hamster wheel.
