Everett resident named to dean's list
Brittany Jeanice of Everett was one of 936 undergraduate students at Northwestern State University of Louisiana who have been named to the dean's list for the fall 2011 semester.
Students on the dean's list must be enrolled full time at Northwestern State and have a grade point average for the fall semester of between 3.5 and 3.99.
Snohomish woman on college honor roll
Martina Gordillo of Snohomish was recently named to the Hardin-Simmons University honor roll for the fall 2011 semester.
The honor roll is comprised of students carrying 12 or more semester hours who obtain a grade point average of 3.6 to 3.74.
Hardin-Simmons University is located in Abilene, Texas.
Excelsior College announces graduates
Local residents recently graduated from Excelsior College in Albany, N.Y.
Everett resident Regina Mills earned a bachelor of science degree and Nicholas Piazzese, a resident of Oak Harbor, earned an associate degree in science.
Edmonds resident earns faculty honors
Hyunsu Cho of Edmonds recently received faculty honors for the 2011 fall semester at Trinity College in Hartford, Conn.
To earn faculty honors, a student must achieve a semester grade point average of at least a 3.667 with no individual letter grade below a B-minus.
Cho is part of the spring 2015 class at Trinity College.
Mariner student in space program
Adan Rangel of Mariner High School was accepted into The Washington Aerospace Scholars 2011-12 program.
The Washington Aerospace Scholars program is a free, competitive, science, technology, engineering and mathematics education program for high school juniors from across the state.
Rangel was one of 297 students from 110 different public, private and home-school organizations who applied in November to participate in the program.
He was accepted to the program and plans to spend the next five months competing academically for one of the 160 slots in a summer residency session held at The Museum of Flight in June and July.
To qualify for the summer residency, students must satisfactorily complete 10 online lessons, consisting of research essays, space-related math problems, and detailed graphics that illustrate their ideas.
