Quick art classes at Schack for children
Life can sometimes be a race from school, to soccer to the dinner table.
Who has time to be creative?
The Schack Art Center has created a series of art classes for families on the go to experience making a piece of art in say, 20 minutes or less.
Families can take a quick lesson in glass blowing, kiln forming, mixed media, encaustic and jewelry in less than the time it takes to get a haircut. Some classes are offered to families with children as young as 10 years old.
The series, called "Make it and Take it" offers such classes as "Make It Now In 20 Minutes or Less" where participants can make glass apples, votives or hearts while working with one of Schack's skilled glass blowers. Your piece is ready for pickup in 48 hours.
There's also "Make Your Own Glass Jewelry" where you can learn how to create fused glass pendants, earrings and pins. By the end of class, you will have up to eight pieces of jewelry ready for pick up in two weeks.
Other classes include making glass coasters and glass plates, creating beeswax valentines or turning your recyclables into beautiful paintings.
