Everett: Get prepared for disasters with class
The Everett Fire Department is offering a spring Community Emergency Response Team class Thursdays from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. beginning Thursday through April 19, 2012 at the Everett Fire Department.
The deadline for applications is Feb. 10.
The eight-week course will provide a variety of disaster planning, recovery and survival skills aimed at surviving and assisting our community in disaster response and recovery. People living in Everett, as well as business owners, are encouraged to participate or send employees to these free emergency preparedness classes.
To date, more than 480 people have participated in the program.
Applications are available at the Everett Office of Emergency Management located at 2801 Oakes Ave. Class size is limited.

Clearview: New fire commissioners named
Snohomish County Fire District 7 in Clearview recently welcomed two new fire commissioners.
Randy Fay and Shauna Willner took office Jan. 1.
Fay works for the county Department of Emergency Management. He and his wife have lived in Clearview since 1992.
Willner works as a Realtor with Windermere Real Estate. She has lived the past 25 years in the north Bothell area.
The fire commissioners decide the district's long-term goals and policies. The board meets on the second and fourth Thursday of each month at 8 a.m. at district headquarters at 8010 180th St. SE, Snohomish. The public is welcome to attend.
This event was rescheduled due to a college snow closure Jan. 18.
Mountlake Terrace: Coffee with city officials
People are invited to join city officials for a cup of coffee and find out what's happening in the city. This casual event is set for 6 to 7 p.m. Feb. 8 in the Recreation Pavilion Jungle Room, 5303 228th St. SW.
Participants are encouraged to ask questions, comment on city services or just listen to the conversation.

Coupeville: Volunteer for civil service board
The Island County Board of Commissioners is seeking applicants to fill a vacancy on the Civil Service Commission.
The commission meets the second Thursday of each month.
