Ice skate for free, celebrate landmark at Everett arena
The number 4 million is one worth celebrating.
That's the number of fans who have entered Comcast Arena in Everett since it opened as the Everett Events Center in 2003.
Now for the celebration.
Comcast is inviting the community to a Fan Free Skate event where guests can skate for free on either of the arena's two sheets of ice.
The free skate event is from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday at Comcast Arena, 2000 Hewitt Ave., Everett.
Both ice rinks, the Comcast Community Ice Rink and the main arena ice where the Silvertips hockey players skate, will be open with free admission.
Guests should enter through the Comcast Community Ice Rink on Broadway. There are a limited number of free rental skates available so guests are asked to bring their own if they have them.
Guests can join some of the Everett Silvertips players, the Silvertips mascot Lincoln, and Snow Plow Sam, the mascot from the National Figure Skating Association, for time on the ice.
Also, fundamentals of ice skating and hockey will be taught by professional instructors.
Skating lessons will be available in the community rink, with hockey lessons offered on the arena ice. Drawings will be held for raffle prizes, according to a press release.
"It is a huge milestone to welcome the four millionth guest," said Kim Bedier, Global Spectrum's general manager for Comcast. "We'd like to celebrate with the entire community and offer this unique opportunity for people of all ages and abilities to skate where the Everett Silvertips, international skating stars and Disney Princesses have all skated."
