Lasconia leads Shorecrest girls to big win over Everett

SHORELINE -- Led by the overall play by senior point guard Brianne Lasconia, Shorecrest was able to redeem itself from an early season loss by defeating Everett 43-19 in a Wesco 3A game on Tuesday night.

Lasconia scored as many points as the Everett team on her own, finishing with 19 points and three 3-pointers to lead the Scots. Lasconia had 13 of her 19 in the first half, and Shorecrest coach Dori Monson was sure to compliment her play throughout the game. "She did a great job of controlling the tempo in the second half," Monson said of Lasconia.

The Shorecrest defense was also able to hold Everett's Sidney Rielly to just five points on the night.

"We believe that Sidney is one of the best players in the conference," Monson said. "We had Brianne play her man-to-man early, and then to really mix it up we changed defensively to zone."

Along with the victory, Monson mentioned that the team got an emotional lift by the return of senior India Matheson, who had not played in over a month due to illness. Matheson in limited minutes managed to score two points.

With the win Shorecrest remains in third place in the Wesco 3A.
