Zach Taylor's buzzer-beating 3 give Cedarcrest boys win over Sultan

SULTAN -- Zach Taylor hit a buzzer-beating 3-pointer as Cedarcrest beat Sultan 57-54 in a Cascade Conference game Tuesday night.

The last-second 3 capped a 27-point night for Taylor, who connected five times from 3-point range -- four times in the second half.

The dramatic finish came after Sultan had battled from a 15-point deficit with close to 5 minutes remaining. "I give them credit, I mean they didn't give up, they continued to fight, continued to battle," Cedarcrest head coach Mark Prince said of the Turks.

Prince said a combination of Sultan's switch from man-to-man to zone defense allowed the Turks to get momentum for the comeback.

Sultan went on a 14-2 run to tie the score at 54 on a Cooper Beucherie 3-pointer with 23 seconds remaining in the game, setting up Taylor's heroics.

"Zach Taylor got a pretty good look at the three," said Prince. "(The game) was typical Zach leading the way. He's an unselfish player ... but he's the type that wants the ball in his hands at the end of the game ... (it was) a very exciting game from start to finish."

Brock VandenEkart had a double-double with 15 points and 13 rebounds for Sultan in the loss.
