Athletes of the Week - Jan. 23-28

TRAVIS BAKKEN
Edmonds-Woodway | Boys basketball
The Warriors post scored 12 of his 23 points in the fourth quarter as Edmonds-Woodway shocked fourth-ranked Snohomish 71-67. Bakken also scored eight points in a win over Mariner to keep the Warriors hopes for Wesco South title alive.

PAISLEY HECKMAN
Stanwood | Girls basketball
The Spartans post player averaged 16.6 points in three wins last week, including 16 in a victory over previously undefeated Lake Stevens as the Spartans made a push for the top Wesco North seed. Heckman also had 19 in a win over Kamiak.

MARCUS SATTERLEE
Mariner Boys swimming
The sophomore swimmer won the 100 butterfly in wins over Snohomish, Glacier Peak and Stanwood and took first in the 100 freestyle in wins over Meadowdale and Lynnwood as the Marauders went 5-0 last week.

KRIS DELANEY
Edmonds-Woodway | Wrestling
The Warriors 220-pound grappler pinned both of his opponents last week, Jacob Shepard in 47 seconds and Daniel Huynh in 1:15 as Edmonds-Woodway beat Mariner and Jackson to take the Wesco South title.

KORIE HEBERT
Everett Girls bowling
The Seagulls bowler rolled a 589 series to qualify individually for state as the Seagulls finished fifth a the West Central District Tournament. The 2012 state bowling championships are Friday and Saturday at Narrows Plaza Bowl in University Place.
