Help Everett Community College shape its future
EVERETT — Everett Community College is asking community members to share their thoughts and ideas for the college’s future priorities at a series of events beginning Feb. 8.
The four events in February and March are part of the college’s long-range strategic planning process. The college wants input from a cross-section of the Snohomish County community and surrounding region, including those who are not already connected with the college.
EvCC has identified themes for each of the engagement events, which will include a structured process for discussion and feedback.
The information and ideas gathered at the community events will lead to a larger, two-day event in April and will be used to help develop the college’s strategic plan for the next three to five years. The community events are:
Feb. 8: Shaping the Future: Changing Roles for Community Colleges, 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at EvCC’s main campus in Everett.
Feb. 9: Serving a Diverse Student and Community Population, 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Tulalip Resort Casino’s conference area in Tulalip.
March 13: Defining Student Success in Community Colleges, 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. in Monroe.
March 15: Enhancing Community Partnerships and Relationships, 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Port of Everett Waterfront Center in Everett.

EvCC Aviation Maintenance Technician School information session
EVERETT — Learn about Everett Community College’s Aviation Maintenance Technician School and careers in aviation maintenance at a free information session at 2:30 p.m. Feb. 9.
The information session will be held at the school, 9711 32nd Place W., Building C-80, Paine Field, Everett.
EvCC’s Aviation Maintenance Technician School is one of only about 150 schools nationwide that train airframe and powerplant mechanics. In the eight-quarter, 2,040-hour program, students will learn about 45 subjects and work hands-on with a variety of fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters.
Students can prepare for a Federal Aviation Administration Airframe and Powerplant license, get a certificate in aviation technology or earn an associate of technical arts degree in aviation maintenance technology.
Demand for licensed airframe and powerplant mechanics is expected to grow over the next decade as older mechanics retire. The median hourly earnings of aircraft mechanics and service technicians are steadily increasing.
Prospective students can get started now by attending one of the monthly info sessions, which is required for admittance.
