Stanwood boys' win over Snohomish creates logjam atop Wesco North

SNOHOMISH -- In a back-and-forth battle, Stanwood defeated Snohomish 62-58 on Thursday night. The Spartans were led by junior wing Cannen Roberson, who finished with 27 points to lead all scorers on the night.

"(Roberson) had just a solid game all around," said Snohomish head coach Len Bone. "He probably had six or eight points every quarter."

The fourth quarter was close the entire eight minutes of play according to Bone. Stanwood's largest lead in the period was as high as six at one point, but Snohomish was able to make multiple comeback attempts and was able to manage a small two-point lead late before ultimately losing by four.

Despite the loss the Panthers managed to get solid rebounding efforts from junior guard Kevin Yates, senior guard Luke Hamlin and junior forward Gabe Reichenberger. All three finished with eight rebounds on the night.

With the win Stanwood moves into a first place tie with Snohomish and Lake Stevens atop the Wesco North standings.
