Same-sex marriage

Model has worked for centuries

People are forgetting that the marriage model that has been portrayed for thousands of years between a man and a woman works. To have children and make families, for stability and paternity and maternity ... this is ideally what marriage is for. Children want to know where they come from.

I believe a lot more people in this state believe this and they are not represented in the Legislature or Congress or by your paper, for that matter. The Herald is very biased. Submitting to the loudest voice is not forward or progressive thinking. Who are we hurting? We are hurting our children.

Washington state senators have lost focus on the building blocks of society, which is the children. Raising healthy and secure children is what we should be striving to teach the next generation. Getting mothers and fathers to work together for their relationships and the relationships with their children, keeping marriages strong and not giving up. This is what strengthens our society and grows healthy children. We get that by strengthening the relationship between a man and a woman in marriage. We need to encourage that example and not redefine marriage. It's so much more than a definition. It is a model that has worked for thousands of years.
