Front Porch: Valentine project for teens

Teens can create a special Valentine at the Mukilteo Library at 3:30 p.m. Thursday. Decorate a tiny matchbox and slide it open to reveal a picture of your Valentine. Bring a small picture -- 1 inch by 2 inches -- of your crush and the rest will be provided. No crush? No problem. Use the box for Valentine candy.

The Mukilteo Library is located at 4675 Harbour Pointe Blvd. For more information: 425-493-8202.

Soroptimist of Everett is having its third annual Grab the Grape wine auction and luncheon at noon Wednesday at the Everett Golf & Country Club, 500 52nd St. SE, Everett. The $20 ticket covers admission and a bottle of wine. Proceeds are to benefit the new emergency shelter and offices for Domestic Violence Services of Snohomish County. For reservations, call Vicci at 425-259-2827 or by email at vicci@dvs-snoco.org.

The city is set to take over park property from Snohomish County. To celebrate, the Sky Valley Chamber of Commerce is now accepting suggestions on what it should be named.

Anyone from the county can participate. The name can be of a person, place or of anything that has local historical significance.

People can send their nominations by mail to Sky Valley Chamber, Attn.: Lisa, P.O. Box 46 Sultan, WA 98294; or by email at debbie@skyvalleyvic.net.

Nominations also will be accepted in person at the Sultan Visitors Center, located at 320 Main St. The contest ends at noon, Feb. 24.

The chamber will select four names and send them to the Snohomish County Council, which will make the final decision.

More info: 360-793-0983 or www.skyvalleychamber.com.
