Ensuring safety needs high priority
The newspaper reports there were no physical injuries, but what about the emotional trauma of a bombing? Last year three different police departments were dispatched to lock down EWHS while looking for armed people on campus. Two years ago students vandalized mechanical equipment on the roof by introducing potentially dangerous, foul smelling fumes into the air system of the school. It has been reported some staff members have been issued armored vests.
The Edmonds School District has decided not to install security cameras in the common areas that could help apprehend the criminals on campus. Does my son or your student deserve this kind of work or educational experience? I expect the community, the Edmonds School District and the parents of students to do more to ensure the safety of all at our schools. To the parents, stay tuned in to your student's actions. To the Edmonds community, please, let's not become complacent when it comes to criminals on campus. To my son, he is married to a wonderful lady and the father of two wonderful children, my grandchildren. Need I say more?
