Silvertips' Yadlowski suspended for 10 games

The Everett Silvertips are in the midst of a late push to try and get into the playoffs. However, they'll have to spend much of that time without one of their top defensemen.

Overager Brennan Yadlowski was handed a 10-game suspension by the WHL Tuesday for his actions following Friday's 7-3 loss at Portland.

In the game's final minute, Yadlowski was involved in a fight with Portland's Jason Trott. After the fight Yadlowski was bleeding from the forehead and visibly incensed, needing to be restrained by the officials as he was escorted off the ice. Trott was given an instigator penalty on the play.

The suspension came as a result of Yadlowski's actions after he left the ice. The explanation of the suspension on the WHL's website read: "The player's off-ice actions, following removal from game in the third period, were unacceptable."

When asked about the incident Monday, Everett coach Mark Ferner limited his response to: "He did something he probably shouldn't have done." However, during Tuesday's pregame radio broadcast Ferner admitted that Yadlowski went to Portland's locker room after the game.

This is the second 10-game suspension received by an Everett player this season. Winger Jesse Mychan, since traded to Tri-City, was given a 10-game suspension in November for a checking-to-the-head major penalty against Prince George.

Going into Tuesday Everett had 20 games remaining, meaning Yadlowski would miss half those. Yadlowski has four goals and 13 assists in 50 games this season and receives heavy minutes in all situations.
