Skateboarder injured after collision with dumptruck in Monroe

MONROE -- A skateboarder suffered injuries and was taken to a Seattle hospital Wednesday afternoon after colliding with a moving dump truck.

The crash was reported about 12:15 p.m. in front of Monroe High School on Tester Road, Monroe police spokeswoman Debbie Willis said.

The Monroe High School senior was heading down a steeply sloped driveway when he lost control, rolled into the roadway and collided with the front of the dump truck, according to police reports.

He was dragged about 40 feet before the truck could stop. He suffered hip and leg injuries.

School district officials said the student was conscious and answering questions after the accident. His mother was with him. He was taken by aid car to Harborview Medical Center.

Tester Road was closed for part of the afternoon while police investigated the accident scene.
