The Northwest Flower & Garden Show: 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Feb. 8 to 11 and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Feb. 12, Washington State Convention & Trade Center, 800 Convention Place, downtown Seattle; $20 at the door. See large display gardens by local designers and landscapers, plus celebrity speakers, educational seminars, floral displays, retail booths and activities for kids. SERIES
Sustainable gardening lecture series: 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. every other Friday through April 13, Mukilteo Presbyterian Church, 4515 84th St. SW, Mukilteo. Tickets to the full eight-lecture series are $85. If there are any unsold seats, a limited number of single-lecture tickets may be available for $20 at the door. Feb. 17: "Foliage First! A Plant's Finest Attribute" with Dan Hinkley, plant collector and design expert.
March 2: "Gardens through Geography and Time" with Jane Billinghurst, world-traveling gardener and author.
March 16: "Adding the Spring Layer to Your Garden" with Bob Lilly, a Wells Medina Nursery veteran and co-author of "Perennials: A Gardeners Reference."
March 30: "Travels of a Young Gardener" with Riz Reyes, Seattle P-I.com blogger and owner of RHR Horticulture and Landwave Gardens.
April 13: "Designing the Landscape with Low Maintenance in Mind" with Polly Hankin, landscape architect.
Evergreen Arboretum and Gardens 2012 lectures: Noon to 1 p.m. select Saturdays, at the arboretum, 145 Alverson Blvd., Everett, either in the indoor classroom or, when appropriate, outside on the arboretum grounds. May 19: "Gardening Using Native Plants" with master gardener Susan Egan.
June 23: "Summer Pruning of Japanese Maples" with Charlie Morgan, owner of Amazing Maples of Mukilteo.
July 21: "Garden Photography" with John Lindstrom, retired Everett Community College photography instructor.
Aug. 18: "Yoga for Gardeners" with Beverly Anderson, Everett Community College yoga instructor. Bring your own mat, rug or blanket.
Sept. 15: "Fall and Winter Containers" with arboretum volunteer Dee Drake.
Oct. 20: "Putting Your Garden to Bed" with master gardener Frankie Dennison.

PLANT CLINICS
Got a gardening question? Consult a local master gardener at a public plant clinic. If you have a plant with a problem or disease, bring in a fresh plant sample that, if possible, includes the diseased area, a transition area and a healthy area. Photos are also helpful. You can call the master gardener hot line from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. October through March at 425-357-6010 or visit the WSU Snohomish County Extension offices during the same hours at 600 128th St. SE, Everett.
