Snohomish will pay for aquatic center's water, sewer

SNOHOMISH -- The city will pick up the tab for water and sewer for the Snohomish School District's Aquatic Center.

In a packed meeting, the Snohomish City Council voted 6-1 to pay the two utilities for the 50,000-square-foot pool complex, starting in 2013.

Councilman Dean Randall was the lone vote against.

The agreement has Snohomish paying $52,500 next year. The amount is expected to increase every year until the end of the agreement in 2043. In total, Snohomish expects to pay $3.07 million, support services director Danny Weinberg said.

In exchange, the Snohomish School District will promote water conservation and efficiency. Also, city residents will receive a 20 percent discount on monthly and annual passes at the pool.
