Same-sex marriage

Shin is a man of integrity, courage

I am angered and appalled (as we all should be) by the ridiculous and moronic letter in Tuesday's Herald comparing Sen. Paull Shin to some of history's worst bigots because of his vote against the gay marriage bill. ("Shin seeks respect? Well, so do others.") We elect our representatives to represent all of their constituents, not just the vocal minorities with their own agendas.

We also elect them to be people of integrity who stand up for their beliefs and standards. Neither of which we have seen from our governor and senators and representatives like Mary Margaret Haugen who have admitted to compromising on their own beliefs and standards in order to cave in to these minorities. While they may feel that they don't have to answer to the majority of their constituents, fortunately, they will have to answer to a higher power some day.

Thank you, Sen. Shin, for being a man of integrity and for having the courage to stand up for what you believe in. Keep up the good work!
