Death of man hit by car in Everett still under investigation

EVERETT -- The death of a man who was struck by a car after an argument in south Everett in November remains under investigation.

Carl R. Wilson, 31, of Renton, died Nov. 10 in the 100 block of 117th Place SE, near Mariner High School.

Police believe Wilson went to the home to pick up a car. He found the stereo missing and confronted an Everett man, 23.

The two got into an argument, and the Everett man tried to drive away, police said.

Wilson tried to stop the Everett man, but the man reportedly continued driving, pinning him against another car.

Wilson died from blunt-force trauma. The manner of death is undetermined, officials said this week.

Cases are classified as undetermined when there is not enough information available about the circumstances of how someone died for an autopsy to pinpoint whether a death resulted from an accident or was a homicide, according to the Snohomish County Medical Examiner's Office.

The case remains under active investigation by Snohomish County sheriff's detectives, bureau chief Kevin Prentiss said Thursday. No arrests have been made.

When the investigation is finished, the case will be forwarded to prosecutors, who will decide whether to file criminal charges.

It's not clear when that may happen. It is common for fatal crash investigations to take months due to wait times on lab test results and the complexity of collision reconstructions.
