Benefit concert

Thanks to all for supporting family

On Jan. 27, there was a benefit concert held in Stanwood for my good friend, Jen Bell-Burgess. On behalf of myself, Jen and her family, I would like to thank this amazing community for pulling together in support of Jen.

In a very short period of time, Jen and her family have been faced with the tragic realization that there is no cure for her rare form of cervical cancer. Bills have mounted and bankruptcy has been filed, all while dealing with the emotional devastation forced upon them. Thanks to all of her family, friends and community members, we were able to pull off an amazing benefit concert in her name! She and her husband, Matt, had such a memorable evening, and we were able to raise over $8,300!

We all feel very blessed to have so much support pouring out to this wonderful family. I would like to start by thanking The Herald and reporter Gale Fiege for a wonderful article. Jen was also given the opportunity to tell her story on "New Day Northwest" and spread cervical cancer awareness, which is a crucial part of her journey.

Among all of the wonderful cash and basket donations from various donors, we would also like to express special thanks to several establishments which gave significant donations for the benefit, and played major roles in the money we raised: Amigo Cantina, Brigade, Cascade Lumber, Eagle Family Dental Center, Eastside Salon, Stanwood-Camano Wellness Center, Skagit Farm Supply Co-op, Leatherheads, Duck-In Burgers, Bryant Automotive, Les Schwab, Carquest, Stanwood Cinemas, Russell Barron, DDS, and KC's Custom Cakes.

Jen is still giving this fight her all, and remaining the most positive person any of us will ever know! She is amazing!
