ANACORTES -- After falling behind 28-16 at half, Archbishop Murphy was able to get within four midway through the third quarter, but unfortunately the Wildcats were not able to get any closer than that as they fell to Anacortes 63-55 in a 2A District 1 first-round tournament game.

"It was a tale of two halves," said Archbishop Murphy coach Jamar Williams.

The Wildcats shot just 19 percent from the field in the game's first half, while shooting 63 percent in the second.

Despite the loss Archbishop Murphy was led by the 15 points and 19 rebounds of senior center Zach Gordon, and Dan Haider led all scorers with 21. Anacortes was led by Matt Welliver, who finished with a team high 17 points.

Archbishop Murphy plays in a loser-out game against Sehome at Skagit Valley College on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
