Same-sex marriage

Demo flip-floppers show true colors

If Christine Gregoire had stated during her campaign for governor in 2004 that she planned to sign onto a bill from the Legislature legalizing same-sex marriage, would she have won the election by 124 votes over Dino Rossi? I think not! If state Sen. Mary Margaret Haugen had said in her re-election campaign of 2010 that she was going to reverse her position to have this matter decided by a vote of the people would she have won? Instead she cast her vote "yea," which was the last one needed for the bill to pass the state Senate.

President Obama, who said he supported traditional marriage during his 2008 campaign, has now directed Attorney General Holder not to enforce the Defense of Marriage Act. How would this have played during his presidential campaign if it was known he would order this? Holder is the chief law enforcement officer of the land and this is in direct violation of an act passed by both houses of Congress.

The governor stated she "is happy that people can marry the one they love." Really? Already advocates for legalizing polygamy are using gay marriage as an argument for their cause. Why not; don't they love and have "equal" rights too? Best beware of unintended consequences. It has become common practice for Democrats to have two agendas: one they campaign on, and one they govern by. Please remember this when you go to the polls in November.
