Tickets for Everett gymnastics event selling well
EVERETT -- Ticket sales are brisk for an event that will give Everett a brush with the Olympics.
Nearly 4,000 people have bought tickets to the Pacific Rim Gymnastics Championships scheduled for the Comcast Arena on March 16-18.
The event is an Olympic qualifier and one of the last major international competitions before the Summer Olympics in London.
It's expected to bring the best gymnasts in the world to town and focus international attention on Everett.
Most of the tickets sold -- around 3,000 -- are packages that give ticket holders access to all of the events, said Comcast general manager Kim Bedier.
Those tickets cost $110 to $250.
Single event tickets went on sale Jan. 25 and more than 700 of those have sold so far.
The events include artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics and trampoline. Not surprisingly, the event selling the fastest is the men's and women's senior individual event finals scheduled for 6 p.m. March 18.
Tickets to the finals cost $35 to $65.
Each session has a sell-out capacity of 6,400.
