2A Girls District 1 Tournament: Blaine 56, Archbishop Murphy 41

MOUNT VERNON -- After falling behind 22-15 at half, Archbishop Murphy was outscored 17-8 in the third quarter, before ultimately falling to Blaine in a District 2A girls semi-final playoff game, 56-41.

The Wildcats were paced by the play of freshman forward Monti Cooper who finished with a team high 11 points. Junior guard Hailey Dye finished with eight points, while senior Lizzie Hassebrook and junior MaireMichael Carrol each finished with six.

A win would have secured the Wildcats a berth to the 2A State Tournament, but even with the loss Archbishop Murphy still remains alive in the 2A Districts and plays Lynden at in a loser-out game at Skagit Valley College, 8 p.m. on Wednesday.
