Boeing will deliver the first 747-8 Intercontinental to an undisclosed customer on Feb. 27. The first 747-8 passenger plane to fly is shown in this Herald photo from March 2011. It is not the same plane that Boeing will deliver.

The Boeing Co. will deliver the first 747-8 passenger plane to an undisclosed VIP customer on Feb. 27, the jet maker said Tuesday.

The customer will fly away in the new jumbo jet, dubbed the Intercontinental, on Feb. 28.

Boeing has orders for 36 747-8 passenger planes.

Germany's Lufthansa will be the first carrier to receive an Intercontinental. Lufthansa has 20 747-8 passenger jets on order with Boeing.
