Man arrested after standoff with police near Everett

EVERETT -- A man who allegedly threatened to shoot himself and police during a Tuesday evening standoff south of Everett was booked into the Snohomish County Jail for investigation of reckless endangerment.

The suspect, 55, was arrested at his mobile home in the 13300 block of Highway 99.

The Major Crimes Unit from the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office was called to help the department's SWAT team.

The man allegedly told a 911 dispatcher that he had shot out the window of his home and that he was willing to die, according to court papers. He made other phone calls repeating that he wanted to die and would shoot it out with the police, records show.

Neighbors were evacuated.

Deputies contacted the man's wife who was not at home. She told authorities that there were numerous firearms in the home and the man had been despondent over the death of his mother.
