Front Porch: Plant trees to help salmon
Qwuloolt opportunity
Help the organization Sound Salmon Solutions plant trees Saturday at this nationally recognized estuarine restoration site on the Qwuloolt marsh site.
Volunteers can learn about estuarine ecosystems, especially the Qwuloolt marsh's significance as one of the last remaining estuaries on the Snohomish River. Trees planted should improve habitat for salmon.
Bring a sack lunch, water bottle, warm clothes and boots.
For directions and more info, email michele@soundsalmonsolutions.org
Snowshoe trip: Recreation Without Borders is offering a full moon snowshoe trip at Mount Baker.
Basic snowshoeing techniques and simple winter safety are scheduled to be part of the trip scheduled from 2:30 to 11:30 p.m. March 3. Snowshoes, poles, transportation to and from Marysville and a guide are provided. The cost is $72 per person, and the registration deadline is Feb. 24.
