Lawmakers to host town hall meetings this weekend
Five of the area's state lawmakers plan to host town hall meetings during the Presidents Day holiday weekend, giving residents a chance to quiz them about possible budget cuts, new taxes and education reform as well as the new law legalizing gay marriage.
•State Sen. Rosemary McAuliffe, D-Bothell, and state Reps. Derek Stanford, D-Bothell, and Luis Moscoso, D-Mountlake Terrace, who comprise the 1st Legislative District delegation, plan two events Saturday.
From 10 to 11:30 a.m., the trio will be in the large meeting room of the Mountlake Terrace Library, 23300 58th Avenue W. in Mountlake Terrace.
Then, from 1 to 2:30 p.m., they will be in Mobius Hall on the campus shared by Cascadia Community College and the University of Washington's Bothell campus. Mobius Hall is located in the Global Learning & the Arts Building, and UW Bothell is at 18345 Campus Way NE in Bothell.

•Rep. Hans Dunshee, D-Snohomish, of the 44th Legislative District is scheduled to hold public meetings in Mill Creek and Lake Stevens on Saturday.
Two areas he said he intends to focus on are the state's effort to stimulate the creation of jobs and improve education.
His first town hall is from 10 a.m. to noon in Mill Creek City Hall, 15728 Main St. in Mill Creek.
From 1 to 3 p.m. he will be at the Lake Stevens Community Center, 1808 Main St. in Lake Stevens.

•On Monday, Rep. Barbara Bailey, R-Oak Harbor, plans to host a town hall meeting by telephone. It will last from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Bailey, of the 10th Legislative District, will be on the phone discussing the Legislature and taking questions in a format much like a call-in radio show.
Many constituents will receive a call and be invited to stay on the line to participate. You can also call in to take part. The phone number is 877-229-8493 and the access code to the event is 15431.
