Police: Teens wanted to drug, burn mother
EPHRATA -- Police say two teenage girls planned to kill their adoptive mother by first putting Ibuprofen and high blood pressure medicine into her tea, and then setting fire to her room when she was asleep.
The Columbia Basin Herald reported that the teens -- ages 16 and 17 -- are being held on bail of $50,000 each. They have been charged as adults with second-degree attempted murder in Grant County Superior Court.
The mother was alerted to the Monday fire when alarms went off.
Police say she told them she caught the girls stealing a week before the fire and had grounded them.
