Spokane police consider wearing body cameras
SPOKANE -- Spokane police are considering whether officers should wear body cameras to record their interactions with the public.
Police Ombudsman Tim Burns says they're worth the cost and Mayor David Condon agrees it could be one of the changes he's planning for the department.
Condon announced a police action plan Wednesday that calls for more civilian oversight of the department and special training to help officers deal with the mentally ill.
KXLY reports because of budget considerations the earliest the City Council can discuss adding police body cams would be early next year.
