Rain, president's motorcade make for miserable commute
Drivers in the south Snohomish County and Seattle area may want to hang tight for a bit.
Many north Puget Sound highways are seeing major traffic backups and delays related to the holiday weekend and the motorcade for President Barack Obama.
The rain wasn't helping, according to the state Department of Transportation.
The Washington State Patrol apparently shut down northbound I-405 in Bellevue, although it may have been reopened around 5:15 p.m.
The travel time from Everett to Seattle as of 5 p.m. was estimated at more than 80 minutes.
Northbound traffic on I-5 into Everett was heavy and likely to get heavier as the motorcade approaches Paine Field, where it is expected to return before leaving the region. It's not clear whether the president is in the motorcade or is traveling via aircraft.
