Front Porch: Health screenings offered in Smokey Point Friday

The Stillaguamish Senior Center and Everett Community College School of Nursing are teaming up to present a free health screening day from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. today in the senior center's main hall at 18308 Smokey Point Blvd., Arlington.

Screenings include blood pressure, lung function, blood glucose, bone density, balance, hearing and vision.

Whooping cough: Free immunizations to protect adults from whooping cough will be offered from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Feb. 25 at the Group Health Everett Medical Center, 2930 Maple St., in Everett.

Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments are recommended by calling 425-339-8694 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 21-24.

The shots are being offered to low-income adults without health insurance and pregnant women in their third trimester, adolescents and adults who have close contact with infants, young children, or pregnant women in Snohomish County.



Presidents Day is Monday: Here are some scheduled closures:

Government: Federal, state and local offices are closed.

Schools: Closed.

Post offices: Closed.

Commerce: Many businesses are closed, Everett and Alderwood malls are open, and most banks are closed.

Transportation: Community Transit and Everett Transit are on a regular schedule. For ferry information, go to www.wsdot.wa.gov/ferries or call 888-808-7977.
