State penitentiary employee accused of sleeping on duty
WALLA WALLA -- The Washington Department of Corrections is investigating a mental health counselor at the state Penitentiary in Walla Walla who is accused of sleeping on duty.
Corrections spokesman Chad Lewis said there's been a whistleblower complaint and a state audit questioning the behavior of the counselor.
The Union-Bulletin reported that he holds a second full-time job at the Oregon prison facility in Pendleton. He has an annual salary of about $46,000 a year in Washington and $54,000 a year in Oregon.
The Washington state audit also said the counselor has been reprimanded for playing video games on his state computer.
