Burglary suspect wounded in Seattle

SEATTLE -- A south Seattle homeowner told police he shot an intruder early Friday.

Police found a man with shotgun pellet wounds in his left arm on a Metro bus. After hospital treatment, the 37-year-old was headed to jail for investigation of burglary.

The 66-year-old homeowner lives in a building in the Columbia City neighborhood that was once a business. He told police he was awakened to the noise of a break-in after midnight, grabbed the shotgun and fired when the intruder refused to lie down on the floor.

The intruder dropped a bag of tools as he fled.

Police seized the shotgun as part of their investigation.
