6 injured in DUI crash in Richland

RICHLAND -- The Washington State Patrol says two adults and four children were injured when their van was rear-ended by a speeding, intoxicated driver in Richland.

Lateef al-Salehi and Yusraa Aziz were traveling on State Route 240 in the van with four children ages 7 to 11 at about 1:30 a.m. Sunday. Investigators say a Hyundai driven by Christopher Lundy, 23, of Kennewick, came up behind them, struck the back of the van and forced it off the road, where it rolled over.

Lundy wasn't injured but he was arrested for investigation of vehicular assault.

All six people in the van were taken to Kadlec Hospital in Richland. A nursing supervisor said the adults were treated and released Sunday morning, but she could not release information about the children; their names had not been made public.
