Seems Like Yesterday
50 years ago (1962)
One of the most spectacular art exhibits to be shown at First Federal was now on display at the local gallery, where the huge and colorful painting by Charles Close was hanging. Close, son of Mildred Close of Everett, was a 1958 graduate of Everett High School and was attending the University of Washington. He had also received a three-year scholarship to Yale University for postgraduate work.
Looking over some of volumes that would be on display at St. Mary Magdalen School during its upcoming open house and book fair were Billy Bickel, Nancy Newby and Rita Mallahan.
25 years ago (1987)
Chuck and Kristi O'Harran, of Bothell, were disappointed as their son, Ron, who graduated from Army basic training in Georgia, immediately found himself on a plane to Korea without any furlough.
Patty Larson was surprised on her birthday when neighbors decorated her house with signs and brought in an automated gorilla -- like those often used to attract attention to businesses -- to help announce the occasion. What were neighbors for?
