Highly rated wide receiver recruit Neal signs with Notre Dame

SOUTH BEND, Ind. — Highly rated wide receiver recruit Davonte Neal from Scottsdale, Ariz., has signed a letter of intent with Notre Dame.

The 5-10, 175-pound Neal was considered the highest-rated recruit still unsigned by most analysts. He helped Chaparral High School to back-to-back championships.

Neal caught 62 passes for 1,113 yards and 16 TDs, rushed for 1,317 yards and 14 TDs, returned three kickoffs for TDs and posted two punt return TDs in 2011.

Notre Dame lost out on its top receiver recruit on signing day back on Feb. 1 when Deontay Greenberry signed with Houston after giving a verbal commitment to the Fighting Irish.
