Everett: Walk to raise funds for homeless
The Everett Gospel Mission plans to hold a Walk for Hope event at 9 a.m. Saturday.
Hundreds of people plan to walk from the Everett Gospel Mission's Women's Shelter at 5118 S. Second Ave., to the Everett Gospel Mission Men's Shelter, at 3711 Smith Ave.
The event is a fundraiser for the homeless and hopes to increase the community's understanding of the issues faced by the homeless.
Check in is at 8 a.m. at the women's shelter, a rally is scheduled for 8:30, then the walk starts at 9 a.m.
There will be a free breakfast at the end of the walk at the men's shelter.

School board begins talks with community
The first in a series of three events to give the public a chance to have one-on-one talks with Everett School Board members is scheduled from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the North Middle School Library, 2514 Rainier Ave.
Mukilteo: Animal doc to give seminar
A wildlife veterinarian plans to host a seminar on the critters of Puget Sound on March 7 at the Rosehill Community Center.
Dr. Joe Gaydos' talk is titled, "Bears to Barnacles: Cool Animals of The Salish Sea." Gaydos is the chief scientist for the SeaDoc Society, [/URL]www.seadocsociety.org;http://www.seadocsociety.org[URL]. The presentation, scheduled from 7 to 8:30 p.m., is part of the series, "Explore Puget Sound In Depth."
It'll touch on some of the Puget Sound's wildlife, including more than 3,000 species of invertebrates, 247 kinds of fish, 172 kinds of birds and 39 kinds of mammals.

South Snohomish County: Lawmakers to host town halls
Residents of Mukilteo, Edmonds and Lynnwood will get two chances Saturday to question their state representatives on proposals for budget cuts, education reforms and other new laws.
Sen. Paull Shin, D-Edmonds and state Reps. Marko Liias, D-Edmonds, and Mary Helen Roberts, D-Lynnwood, will host a pair of town hall meetings.
From 10:30 a.m. to noon, the trio will be in the Mukilteo Library, 4675 Harbour Pointe Blvd. in Mukilteo. Starting at 1:30 p.m. they will be in the City Council chambers in Edmonds, 121 Fifth Ave. N.
