Watch the Oscars: The 84th Academy Awards ceremony Sunday begins with the red carpet rollout at 4 p.m. on KOMO-TV, Channel 4, followed by the awards show at 5:30 p.m. For Robert Horton's predictions on who will win, click here. Drink beer: Saturday from noon to 5 p.m. is the Washington Beer Open House. That means 44 breweries around the region, including six in Snohomish County, are offering behind-the-scenes tours. Many brewers will be available to talk about their recipes and methods. Expect tours, music, snacks, beer samples and sales. Read our story here for more info.

Learn about birds: The Port Susan Snow Goose and Birding Festival is Saturday and Sunday in Stanwood and Camano Island. The festival includes art shows and demonstrations, musical entertainment, activities for kids, guided tours, speakers, vendors and food. Read more about it in our story here.

Hunt for glass art: The Great Northwest Glass Quest continues through Sunday in the Stanwood-Camano area. During glass quest, "clueballs" are hidden at a variety of host businesses and in community sites around the Stanwood-Camano area. Participants find the clueball and return it to the location identified inside for an limited edition glass "snowball," handmade by glass artist Mark Ellinger. Read more about it here or here.

Learn to prune: The Arlington Garden Club will host a pruning seminar with Tom Boyce, a registered arborist. The class is set for 10 a.m. Saturday at 1210 E. Fifth St. Boyce plans to demonstrate how to prune a variety of plants in this garden. The plants include grapes, roses, fruit trees and evergreens. The public is invited and there is no charge.
