Whidbey Camano Land Trust wins accreditation
Whidbey Camano Land Trust has been accredited by the Land Trust Accreditation Commission, an independent program of the national Land Trust Alliance.
Of the 1,700 land trusts located nationwide, just 158 have achieved this seal of distinction.
Accredited land trusts must meet national standards for protecting important natural places and working lands. The accreditation means that the land trust has undergone an external review of the management of its organization and the policies it uses to protect land.
"Becoming accredited is a real achievement and honor for us. To be recognized nationally as a top-tier land trust is a tribute to our board and staff. It also verifies the support and trust we so generously receive from our members, volunteers and the entire community," said Tom Cahill, Land Trust president, in a statement.
The Whidbey Camano Land Trust protects natural habitats, scenic vistas, and working farms and forests in partnership with landowners and communities. Incorporated in 1984, the Land Trust is a local, non-profit, non-political organization. It has protected nearly 7,000 acres.
