John W.J. Keeney has been detained at the Special Commitment Center on McNeil Island since 2004. He has made enough progress that the state Attorney General's Office has agreed to allow him to live at the Secure Community Transition Facility in King County.
The Union-Bulletin reported that Walla Walla County Superior Court Judge John Lohrmann signed an order Tuesday releasing the 36-year-old to the residential facility.
