The event, which was announced at the Paris Air Show last June, will be the first of its kind in the United States. With the backing of the Boeing Co. and the state of Washington's commerce department, the summit is being organized by BCI Aerospace, which puts on similar events in Asia, the Middle East and Europe.
The summit "provides a one-of-a-kind opportunity for suppliers to engage with major suppliers of the Boeing Co. and make connections that can expand their business and technology reach," Stan Deal, Boeing's general manager of supply chain management, said in a statement.
The event is March 12-15 at the Washington State Convention & Trade Center in downtown Seattle. The summit will include presentations from analysts and aerospace companies and an estimated 7,000 one-on-one meetings between large companies like Boeing and small and mid-sized suppliers seeking more business.
Next Monday, the Pacific Northwest Aerospace Alliance has scheduled a supplier's forecasting symposium, in conjunction with the summit. The alliance's one-day event will focus on the next year to five years for what the supply chain can expect domestically and internationally.
With jet makers like Boeing and Airbus increasing their production rates to all-time highs, PNAA's March 12 symposium "is an excellent opportunity for suppliers to learn what's happening in the defense and commercial aviation sectors," John Graham, secretary of PNAA's board, said in a statement.
