LB Leroy Hill's marijuana charge dismissed

Seahawks linebacker Leroy Hill, who was arrested for marijuana possession last week, had his charge dismissed Monday in Atlanta Municipal Court, his attorney said.

Hill and a female companion were arrested on Feb. 25 after a police search found marijuana in his Atlanta apartment, but he won't face prosecution in the case.

"It was dismissed because he was absolutely innocent," Hill's attorney, Edward Garland, said. "He had no knowledge that his apartment had been used in his absence and somebody had left a trace amount of marijuana in his apartment. And the prosecution moved to dismiss the case because he was innocent."

Garland added that Hill, "Took a drug screen immediately after his arrest that showed no drugs of any sort in his system or in that of his companion. The charges against her were also dismissed."

This is obviously extremely good news for Hill, who after two previous arrests appeared to have turned things around both on and off the field in 2011. Hill is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent later this month and today's news certainly increases the odds of not only the Seahawks but other teams being interested in his services.
